TAOA is a trans-led community-based organization in Kenya dedicated to supporting transgender and gender non-conforming (TGNC) refugees, asylum seekers, and displaced persons. Founded in 2022 as a support group, we provide holistic services addressing unique challenges faced by TGNC individuals.

We’re committed to creating safe spaces and empowering TGNC individuals through advocacy, legal assistance, shelter, emergency support, and capacity-building programs. Your support helps provide essential services to those in need.

Our Vision

A society where TGNC individuals live free from stigma, discrimination, and violence, with full access to legal rights, comprehensive healthcare, and social inclusion.

Our Strategic Objectives

Safe Housing and Shelter Support

Providing emergency and transitional shelter for TGNC individuals at risk of homelessness or violence. We maintain safe spaces with comprehensive support services for rebuilding lives.

Emergency Support Services

Delivering urgent medical care, food, clothing, and essential supplies. We respond promptly to crises affecting TGNC individuals with immediate relief and ongoing support.

Comprehensive Healthcare Access

Partnering with health authorities to ensure culturally sensitive, inclusive healthcare. We provide health education and SRHR services tailored to TGNC individuals.

Mental Health and Psychosocial Support

Offering counseling, therapy, and peer support groups. We train mental health professionals to understand and affirm the unique challenges of the TGNC community.

Leadership Development

Conducting leadership and advocacy training to foster community mobilization and resilience. We offer vocational training for self-reliance and community contribution.

Stigma Reduction and Sensitization

Workshops for healthcare providers, law enforcement, and community leaders to foster inclusivity. Community campaigns to combat stigma and promote understanding.
